Crystal Ashby is a dynamic and innovative executive with a record of success leading government and external affairs, legal and ethics and compliance organizations.
She is a lawyer who transitioned from practicing law into key business partnerships. Until 2015 she was a leader at BP America holding various senior roles including: Senior Vice President for Strategic University Relationships, Executive Vice President for Government and Public Affairs – States, Managing Attorney – US Retail (with a stint in Rotterdam), and Senior Advisor to the Global Compliance & Ethics Officer based in London. During her time at BP she also served on various internal BP Boards and was executive sponsor to several affinity groups. Prior to joining BP she practiced as a litigator in Chicago, Illinois.
In addition to serving on the Genesys Works National Board, Crystal also serves on the board of the Executive Leadership Counsel and the Holocaust Museum Houston and is a former trustee of the National Urban League. She is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel ELI faculty on Crisis Management and The International Women’s Forum. She is active at her alma mater, the University of Michigan, serving on the College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council and chairing the Center for Engineering Diversity and Outreach Advisory Council, as well as being an Alumni Work Group member of the Barger Leadership Institute in the College of Literature, Science & Arts.
Crystal is an alumni of DePaul University College of Law and received her BA with a double major in English & Psychology from the University of Michigan. While a native of Detroit, she currently resides in Houston, Texas.
