Mission

Genesys Works is a nonprofit organization that trains and employs high school seniors to perform professional
services for major corporations. Our mission is to provide pathways to career success for high school students
in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships.

Key Responsibilities

 

The Core Program Manager is responsible for operational excellence in the execution of the Genesys Works high school program. In this role they serve as the direct manager for Program Coordinators who work directly with students and are the first line of support to troubleshoot issues that Program Coordinators have with students, corporate partners,and schools. Additionally, Program Managers are responsible for the smooth execution of core program curriculum,overseeing execution of the student recruitment initiatives, the delivery of the summer training program,and student success throughout the internship and in the Career and College Connection program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing 4-7 Program Coordinators and their relationships with students, corporate partners and schools
  • Monitoring team metrics to assure that core goals and the mission of Genesys Works are accomplished
  • Providing one-on-one coaching for Program Coordinatorsto achieve key metrics through bi-weekly meetings, classroom and workplace observations
  • Acting as a first line of support for Program Coordinators, including troubleshooting, brainstorming and helping implement solutions to student issues
  • Assuring Program Coordinators are prepared to implement high-quality programming by serving as liaison and consultant to managers and directors for curriculum design, professional development needs, program alignment and operational excellence
  • Assisting in the development and creation of staff trainings, curriculum, processes and procedures, and in the sharing of best practices
  • Fostering a student-orientated, team-focused environment of high expectations for their team
  • Leading the hiring and onboarding process for new program staff, ensuring that the team is fully staffed
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the school year program, ensuring budgetary goals are met, and managing a summer training site

Breakdown of responsibilities:

Direct Management of 4-7 Program Coordinators (65%)

  • Co-leading a team of PCs with other PMs
  • Work with Program Director and leadership team to determine yearly and quarterly goals and objectives
  • One-on-one check-in meetings to ensure metrics are being met
  • Onboarding and on-going subject matter trainingand professional development
  • Site visits and classroom observations
  • Relationship coaching (Students, Schools, Corporate Partners)
  • Assisting with all major relationship interventions

 

Operations and Program Development (30%)

  • Consulting with program staff
  • Creating curriculum or trainings
  • Documenting best practices
  • Ensuring smoothing operations of day-to-day programing

 

Flex (5%)

  • To be used where needed to complete team objectives and explore new initiatives for the organization or individual professional growth

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Ability to inspire trust by dealing with others in an honest, fair and ethical manner
  • Effective presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • At least one year of experience as a Program Coordinator with Genesys Works or 3+ years of direct youth work or youth program managing experience
  • A record of strong performance in Genesys Work core program metrics or similar work experience
  • Ability to teach and develop others by utilizing strong instructor, facilitatorand coaching skills
  • Ability to coach students through the college access and application process
  • Ability to effectively determine objectives, set priorities and delegate.
  • Ability to assess individual and team performance by monitoring team metrics toassure that core goals and the mission is accomplished
  • Abilityto relate to and motivate students and staff of diverse backgrounds
  • Heart, humor and a commitment to our youth development mission
  • Ability to work with computers, databases including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar applications
  • Project execution skills including strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including someevenings and weekends
  • A current driver’s license and reliable access to a car
  • Four year college degree; all majors considered

Physical Requirements

Including, but not limited to standing and sitting for long periods of time; speaking loudly and clearly; seeing and hearing things both near and far away; and reaching, stooping, kneeling, and fine-finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board, or projector. Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Most work environments are climate-controlled, open space floor plans.
