Purpose of Position
In preparation for rapid growth on a national scale, the Institutional Giving Officer will assist the National Development Department in meeting the organization’s goals and objectives as defined by Genesys Works’ strategic priorities, as well as supporting local and national fundraising efforts by building and maintaining a pipeline of philanthropic supporters. The Institutional Giving Officer is an integral part of ensuring that we continue to serve as many students as possible by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding support from foundations and corporations that will support our regional and national growth efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, establish and maintain relationships with a portfolio of approximately 100 prospective donors with primary focus on giving capacity of five to seven figures; portfolio will have a National focus but may include regional or local prospects as assigned.
  • Secure financial gifts from national foundations, corporations, and other philanthropic entities by developing and executing individualized plans including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  •  Engage donor prospects through face to face meetings and other strategic communications, including local, regional and national travel as necessary.
  • Serves as an active participant assisting in making strategic decisions affecting the development operations and collaborate on other fundraising initiatives..
  •  Work with donors, volunteers, and staff at existing and prospective GW locations as assigned.
  •  Prepare donor proposals and gift agreements as necessary.
  • Maintain entity, gift, and prospect management records, including accurate call reports of all donor prospect meetings, in the donor management system.
  • Be aware of, and subscribe to, best practices and strategies for successful fundraising

Qualifications

  • A track record of building long-term donor relationships and closing 5-7 figure gifts
  • At least five to seven years of job related experience, minimum of two in a gift officer position
  • Ability to identify and engage new and prospective donors and funding partners
  • Collaborative problem solver who brings an entrepreneurial approach to designing personal donor engagement strategies
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to go the extra mile in service of our mission
  • Strong presence and leadership
  • Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize, coordinate several projects simultaneously, and work independently or with a team
  • A track record of setting and achieving stretch goals, and meeting ongoing performance metrics

Including, but not limited to standing and sitting for long periods of time; speaking loudly and clearly; seeing and hearing things both near and far away; and reaching, stooping, kneeling, and five-finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board, or projector. Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Employee may be required to walk for long distances at partner schools, corporations, or other relevant sites. Most work environments are climate-controlled, open space floor plans.
