Mona is a seasoned public relations professional and natural storyteller who comes to Genesys Works with more than 15 years of experience in the development and implementation of internal and external communications campaigns, which helped organizations strengthen their brands.
Mona credits earning an internship at one of the largest public relations firms in Texas for changing the trajectory of her career. She later went on to work in Corporate Communications for an international oil and gas services company where she honed her marketing and communications skills, serving as editor of its news publication and onsite coordinator for trade shows as well as photo shoots in Trinidad, Brazil and Canada. Prior to joining Genesys Works, she spent nearly 10 years supporting and expanding external communications strategies for one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country—first as its Public Relations Manager and later as Communications Director. There she was instrumental in launching, managing and growing its social media strategy and garnering more than $1.2 million in earned media value each year.
Mona studied Journalism and Political Science at Baylor University and went on to earn her MBA from Houston Baptist University. As an immigrant herself, she understands the challenges Genesys Works students face navigating the complexities of the college application process and the important role exposure to careers and networks play in achieving upward economic mobility. She is honored to be able to use her expertise to support Genesys Works in closing the opportunity gap, diversifying the workforce and ending poverty.
