On Friday, August 10th, Genesys Works hosted its first ever Alumni Reunion. Sponsored by Optum, the event attracted more than 200 attendees, including alumni spanning the organization’s 10-year history, present and former staff, and their families.
Held at Minnehaha Park, the event officially lasted for two hours. Attendees were able to engage in a variety of yard games and beach volleyball. Food was also plentiful. In addition to snacks and dessert, a Class 10 alumni volunteered her family’s food truck, Samurai Teppanyaki, to provide the official meal. A raffle also sent select attendees home with prizes ranging from a stay at the Radisson Blu Mall of America, a $250 Amazon gift card, and gift certificates to Olive Garden.
The event also provided opportunity for alumni to reunite with their former intern coworkers, summer training cohorts, and staff that had mentored and trained them throughout their Genesys Works career. Alumni shared updates of their progress in college, their newfound interests in IT and other subject matters, and even their career.
Genesys Works recently began a new alumni program, called the Talent Development Pipeline, in which recent Genesys Works graduates can apply to receive specialized support and opportunities throughout their post-secondary years. Since the program’s inception, alumni engagement has been on the rise, which was particularly evident at the Friday event.
