Genesys Works Welcomes New Director of Development and Communications

CHICAGO – August 18, 2017

Genesys Works Chicago welcomes Rebecca Monen as Director of Development and Communications. Monen, with over nine years of development experience, is no stranger to the development scene. She has raised over $1 million for nonprofits, working with local arts groups and education organizations like Academy for Urban School Leadership and KIPP Chicago.

Monen understands the value of connecting Chicago youth with professional opportunities they might never have encountered. “It’s inspiring to see high school students dedicating their time to professional growth at such a young age,” Monen said of the year-long skills training and internship program. “They truly have a leg-up on their peers as they begin pursuing college and career options.”

Along with a deep knowledge of institutional, corporate and individual fundraising, Monen is also eager to elevate the reputation of Genesys Works within Chicago. “We are changing the lives of students in a way that also provides real value to our corporate partners,” said Monen. “By telling those stories of synergy with our local community, we celebrate the hard work of our students and create more opportunities for them.”

“We are lucky to have such a talented development professional join our team,” said Liz Rafferty, Executive Director of Genesys Works Chicago. “Rebecca’s strong foundation of skills and her experience in the nonprofit world are huge assets to us as we continue to grow and reach more students across the city of Chicago.”
