CHICAGO, IL – Genesys Works, a locally-based social enterprise providing high school students career pathways, today announced it received a grant for $75,000 from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions.

Through the grant, Genesys Works will support the technical and vocational training of 25 Chicago Public School students in Computer Science, in addition to providing wraparound career and college guidance services.

“We couldn’t be more appreciative of this generous grant from Motorola Solutions Foundation,” said Kim Day, Executive Director of Genesys Works Chicago. “This funding will enable our organization to equip students in Chicago with the tools to excel through skills training Computer Science and meaningful work experiences in Chicago’s corporate environment.”

Genesys Works is a national nonprofit that provides high school students in underserved communities with career success pathways through skills training and paid internships. The organization launched the site in Chicago in 2010. Since then, the organization has served more than 1,000 students throughout the metropolitan area and has worked with longstanding partner organizations in Chicago, including Accenture, the CME Group, and TransUnion.

The Motorola Solutions Foundation awards grants each year to organizations such as Genesys Works Chicago that support and advance education initiatives in public safety and technology and engineering. Additionally, the Foundation has a longstanding commitment to supporting programs that benefit underrepresented populations, including females, people of color, people with disabilities, veterans, and others.

“This year, the Foundation’s grants will support programs that help missions of students, teachers, first responders, and community members around the globe,” said Karem Perez, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. “We are thrilled to partner with organizations like Genesys Works that are actively making a positive difference in their communities.”
