For Jimmy, learning new tech skills was never a problem. He excels in Information Technology and demonstrates an uncanny ability for troubleshooting.

Through his year-long internship, Jimmy applies his tech-savvy to real-world situations and develops professional skills at the same time. At the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), he works with a team of professionals to meet the IT needs of not only his office, but AOA employees across the country. “I have to keep track of schedules and stay really organized,” says Jimmy of his internship. His work varies from setting-up laptops to supporting AOA conferences.
With the deep level of support provided by Genesys Works, students like Jimmy emerge from their internships with confidence and poise, ready to tackle real-world problems head on and empowered to re-envision their future. It is the first step in transforming Chicago’s youth into tomorrow’s workforce.
“I’m grateful that I can work during my senior year of high school,” says Jimmy. “It teaches you a lot about the business world, and it’s actually life changing.”
After high school, he plans to stay local, studying Computer Engineering at Northwestern University. He knows he has a bright future and the continued support of his Genesys Works family.
