HAPPY SPRING!

We hope you are enjoying the warmer weather as much as we are.  2015 is already proving to be a stellar year and we would like to share some of our recent highlights:

  •  After receiving 885 applications, in March we conducted516 interviews with High School  Students  hoping for a place in our 2016 Class of Young Professionals.  375 outstanding students will be invited to start Summer Training this year in June.  Over eight weeks they will learn professional  and technical skills and work hard to earn an internship with one of our corporate partners.
  • We are also very excited to report that 98% of our Class of 2015 interns have received at minimum 1 college acceptance and a total of $1.4 Million in scholarship packages have been awarded!
  • In other fantastic news, Veronica Campos (Genesys Works Class of 2014 Alumni) was chosen from 248 University of Houston Rodeo Scholars to share her story at the International Consular Luncheon. Her inspiring story touched University President Renu Khator to write this post.
  • Another Genesys Works – Houston Alumni, Timothy Mayorga was also recently in the spotlight and featured in AT&T’s Aspire Initiative video which you can see published in a Washington Post article here.  AT&T is a major partner for Genesys Works and recently made a $1.8 million dollar contribution supporting the expansion of our program to Washington D.C. in 2016.

We are now confirming 240 internships for our next group of deserving young people.   We are so grateful for the continued support of our corporate partners renewing their commitments as well as for the investment our new partners are making in the future of Houston’s workforce. The mentorship and real world experience our corporate partners offer our interns makes a significant impact in their immediate lives but more importantly helps to shape a successful future.  Do you know someone who may be interested in working with an intern?  Please pass on our contact details or get in touch!

Thank you again for your ongoing support of Genesys Works – Houston.  Together we’re changing the future for Houston’s youth.

Warm Regards

Marian
