On Monday, nearly 400 stakeholders joined forces to celebrate the collective impact of Genesys Works Twin Cities at our sixth annual CIO Luncheon presented by the Accenture Microsoft Business Group powered by Avanade.

Executives and leaders from more than 35 partner companies gathered at the Radisson Blu to recognize the achievements of the countless champions of the program from technology leaders and corporate supervisors to Genesys Works alumni and board members.

As Genesys Works Twin Cities Executive Director Karen Marben said, “We know that these successes are possible only because of all of you – our corporate partners who are hosting our young professionals and giving them a chance. And — our vendor partners who are here who are providing great technology solutions for our corporate partners, and supporting Genesys Works with your sponsorship dollars.”

We have to admit, though, Monday’s highlight was hearing from Genesys Works young professional and Target intern Sarah Hassan deliver the keynote speech. She thoughtfully and earnestly shared with us how her experience with Genesys Works has helped her develop her communication and execution skills. Perhaps more importantly, she shared that her role at Target has given her access to a world she doubted was for her. Before Genesys Works, Sarah knew she was driven and bright; what she didn’t know was how to navigate her way into the corporate world as a black, Muslim woman who grew up within St. Paul’s public housing. Now, empowered with professional skills and meaningful relationships at Target and Genesys Works, Sarah knows that there is a place for her in corporate America. And she’s one step closer to it.

Together, we raised funds that make it possible for bright young professionals like Sarah to overcome obstacles and succeed. Help us continue to achieve our mission by donating at the link below.

And it’s never too early to say this: we can’t wait to see you next year for the 7th annual CIO Luncheon!
