Genesys Works Twin Cities successfully hosted its inaugural Career Fair on Friday, October 12th. More than 30 Genesys Works young professionals in college arrived at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, prepared with resumes and wearing their professional best. Students had the opportunity to network with representatives from seven of our corporate partners – including Ameriprise Financial, Andersen Corporation, ThreeBridge’s Boom Lab, Cargill, Land O’Lakes, Inc., Optum, and Target – to eventually earn an internship or full-time position. For these companies, it was an opportunity to meet local talent in IT and business and expand their candidate pool for filling positions.

At registration, students were provided with a Career Fair guide with company overviews and the specific opportunities each company was providing. In addition, the booklet provided alumni advice and a list of “Do’s and Don’ts.” Students filled the space throughout the entirety of the event’s two hours, engaging with recruiters on a variety of topics such as company culture, desired skills, and career tracks. Target recruiters claimed, “The students were professional, had polished resume formatting, and they had perfected their elevator pitches.” The Career Fair was not only successful in connecting Genesys Works students and employers but also provided a safe space for them to practice their networking skills. A Boom Lab representative summarized it best, “It was a great way to meet so many eager students! The job fair was an excellent, low-stakes way for students to practice talking to employers and continue to situate themselves to land great jobs after college. I’m looking forward to staying connected with some of the students I met!”

Thank you to all who attended the Career Fair – both students and recruiters – and we look forward to many more successful networking opportunities to come.
