SAN FRANCISCO — September 29, 2015 — Genesys Works – Bay Area (GWBA), the San Francisco-based office of national non-profit Genesys Works, announced today the addition of Amity Millhiser, U.S. Markets & Sectors Leader at PricewaterhouseCooopers (PwC), to its Board of Directors. Genesys Works helps end the cycle of poverty for low-income students through extensive training followed by placement into paid, professional internships before they graduate from high school, and using those experiences as a stepping stone to academic and professional success.

“I am excited to join the Board of Genesys Works,” says Millhiser. “I am personally very passionate about initiatives that help give our underserved youth meaningful opportunities in technology, and I look forward to helping the organization expand its efforts throughout the Bay Area.”

Joining PwC in 1985 and admitted to the partnership in 1995, Millhiser has extensive international experience including a tour of duty in Switzerland, where she was the founder and managing partner of the Transaction Services practice, a center of excellence for US and European cross-border deals. For the past three years, Millhiser was the firm’s Market Managing Partner for the Silicon Valley.

An advocate for women in leadership, she has been named one of the California Diversity Council’s Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology in 2015 and one of Silicon Valley’s Women of Influence in 2012.

“We are thrilled to have Amity’s leadership added to our Board,” adds Peter Katz, executive director for Genesys Works – Bay Area. “Her extensive work with technology clients and commitment to the local community are tremendous assets that will help us close the opportunity gap for low-income students.”

A native of the Bay Area, Millhiser holds a B.A. in English from the University of California at Berkeley and is a Certified Public Accountant in California. She speaks fluent German and is a frequent speaker on topics relating to cross-border mergers and acquisitions and has written several articles on deals.
