JONES NAMED TEXAS MULTICULTURAL LEADER OF THE YEAR

The National Diversity Council has recognized Myrtle Jones as its 2015 Texas Multicultural Leader of the Year. The council held its 11th Annual Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference April 15-17 in Houston. Jones was presented with her award as part of that event.

The National Diversity Council seeks to uphold and promote the principles of diversity and leadership. The organization recognizes individuals who personify those principles through the Multicultural Leadership Award, given to individuals of color who have made a difference through their achievements and who exemplify the ability to excel in their fields.

Jones is senior vice president of Tax. She is an accomplished  and widely experienced professional with more than 30 years of experience in international and domestic tax compliance and strategic tax planning.

She stepped into her current role when she joined Halliburton in 2013, coming to the Company from Service Corporation International (SCI), where she served as senior managing director of Tax and Internal Audit, and as chief tax officer. In that role, she managed all aspects of federal, foreign and state income taxes, sales and use taxes, property taxes, accounting for income tax, tax audits and tax planning. She also provided oversight to the SCI Internal Audit team, leading it through a major improvement process.

In previous positions, she held responsibilities for worldwide tax planning strategies, tax risk management, income tax reporting, and the integration of tax structures and operations in major acquisitions.

Jones serves as executive sponsor for the Halliburton African American Network Forum, an employee resource group for African American employees and others who wish to advance professionally through networking and knowledge-sharing.

She is engaged with the Houston community, serving on the board of directors for Genesys Works – Houston. Genesys Works is an organization dedicated to fostering opportunity for disadvantaged high school students by enabling them to work in meaningful internships at major corporations during their senior year in high school.
