Milestone gift brings the tech company’s total contributions to the nonprofit to $1 million over five years

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., Sept. 24, 2018 – Genesys Works is announcing that Salesforce.org contributed $500,000 to the national nonprofit, which provides paid internships and job training to high school students from underserved communities. This grant will support program efforts at Genesys Works’ Bay Area location, as well as help to expand engagement efforts with program alumni for its sites across the country. This gift brings the tech company’s contribution to the program to $1 million over the past five years. It is also the first national-level grant made by Salesforce.org to Genesys Works in its five-year partnership.

In 2017, Genesys Works trained 3,931 high school students and supported 2,221 program alumni in all of its five locations: Houston, Twin Cities, Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area and the National Capital Region. In the Bay Area alone, the nonprofit has served nearly 500 students over 5 years. Salesforce.org’s contribution will enable Genesys Works to drive core program growth while positioning its alumni program to create a deeper impact.

“We are grateful for Salesforce.org’s commitment to the youth in our program,” Rafael Alvarez, Founder & CEO of Genesys Works, said. “With this grant, they show that their corporate values are a priority. Generous partnerships with companies like Salesforce.org are central to our ability to support our students, and we’re honored that they believe so much in the work that we do.”

“At Salesforce.org, we’re committed to ensuring young adults are future ready with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in 21st-century careers,” said Ebony Frelix, EVP and Chief Philanthropy Officer, Salesforce.org. “We’re proud to partner with Genesys Works to ensure we’re building a talented workforce in the Bay Area and in communities across the country.”

In addition to direct funding, Salesforce.org supports the Genesys Works program by providing its students with internships, supporting key events, and engaging staff as volunteers and mentors throughout the year.
