Important Update From Genesys Works Houston

Dear friends,

I am excited to share an important transition that is happening at Genesys Works Houston.

After a career spanning nearly 40 years, the last 5 as Executive Director of Genesys Works Houston, I have made the decision to retire at the end of this year. I will miss contributing daily to Genesys Works’ mission, but look forward to focusing more on public and non-profit board work, as well as my family.

I am delighted to announce that the Genesys Works Houston Board has made the decision to promote from within, unanimously electing Katherine Taylor, our Senior Program Director, as Houston’s next Executive Director. The Board’s vote of confidence in Katherine speaks volumes about the strength of our leadership team and staff. We are making preparations to continue our positive momentum as Genesys Works Houston strives to triple the number of students served over the next 5 years.

To ensure a smooth transition, I will remain in my position until September, when Katherine will officially assume the role of Executive Director. I will remain in a supporting leadership position until the end of 2018, and have been asked by our Board to continue participating as a board member.

I have been continuously amazed and humbled by the commitment of our wonderful partners, donors, and friends, like you. I am confident in Genesys Works Houston’s direction, strong leadership team, growth potential, and bright future ahead of the organization. Genesys Works’ great impact on our community would not be possible without you.

I encourage you to stay engaged as Genesys Works lays the groundwork for this next important phase in its organizational history. Thank you for being a friend of Genesys Works. Remember, Genesys Works works because of you.

Sincerely,

Marian Davenport

Executive Director, Genesys Works Houston
