Part of what makes Genesys Works special was on full display in our downtown Minneapolis office earlier this month. On November 7th, nearly 60 supervisors from companies across the metro joined Genesys Works staff members for the first-ever Genesys Works Supervisor Forum.
Nearly 130 rising high school seniors from San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, have begun their internships at local Bay Area companies. These Genesys Works program participants capped their eight-week skills training with the Breaking Through Ceremony, a milestone event for young professionals continuing their transformational journey with a year-long, paid corporate internship.
This year, Genesys Works is honored to receive Bank of America’s sixth-ever Neighborhood Builder’s grant in the Twin Cities. Each year, the grant is awarded to one local nonprofit who is doing an exceptional job of addressing issues of economic mobility in our community.
Genesys Works Twin Cities hosted its seventh year of MSP Hatfield & McCoys on Monday, October 15th. Attended by the Twin Cities’ IT vendor community, it was our most successful year yet. This year, the event was hosted at Surly Brewing Company for the first time, bringing in more attendees than any year prior.
Genesys Works Twin Cities successfully hosted its inaugural Career Fair on Friday, October 12th. More than 30 Genesys Works young professionals in college arraived at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, prepared with resumes and wearing their professional best. Students had the opportunity to network with representatives from seven of our corporate partners – including Ameriprise Financial, Andersen Corporation, ThreeBridge’s Boom Lab, Cargill, Land O’Lakes, Optum, and Target – to eventually earn an internship or full-time position.
Genesys Works participated in Dreamforce, the annual user conference from Salesforce in San Francisco, CA. Dreamforce consists of four days (September 25-28, 2018) of transforming organizations, shaping careers, giving back, having a ball, and connecting with a community of fellow Trailblazers — all at the largest nonprofit technology conference in the world.
York Solutions has been an outstanding partner of Genesys Works, sharing our vision of creating a talented and diverse workforce for tomorrow. In June, Genesys Works and York Solutions once again partnered to host the 5th Annual Think IT Charity Golf Invitational. The event, hosted at the Minneapolis Golf Club, was another big success.
