Genesys Works National Capital Region Appoints Elizabeth Lindsey as Executive Director

Lindsey brings deep experience connecting talent and industry to prepare the next generation of professionals

WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 29, 2025— Genesys Works National Capital Region (GWNCR) announces Elizabeth Lindsey as its new Executive Director. In this role, Lindsey will lead the organization’s efforts to prepare and connect high school students with meaningful early career experiences that strengthen the region’s future workforce.

“I’m excited to join Genesys Works, and I believe in the potential of every young person to achieve the life they imagine,” Lindsey said. “When we provide access, guidance, and real-world experience, students gain the confidence and skills to build meaningful careers. I look forward to deepening partnerships that help more students in our region succeed.”

Lindsey joins Genesys Works as an accomplished nonprofit executive with more than 15 years of experience advancing workforce development and economic mobility. She brings deep expertise in building partnerships that drive growth and scaling programs that create lasting impact.

Most recently, Lindsey served as Executive Vice President of External Affairs at UpTogether, where she led fundraising, partnerships, and policy, driving 65% year-over-year revenue growth and securing major investments from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other national funders.

“Elizabeth’s leadership and proven ability to bring together schools, businesses, and community partners will be key to expanding our impact across the National Capital Region,” said Byron V. Garrett, CEO of Genesys Works. “Her passion for creating opportunities that develop young people is central to our mission.”


Lindsey is a graduate of Princeton University and Swarthmore College, and has been recognized by The Root, Inc. Magazine, and DC Inno for her leadership and innovation.

Genesys Works NCR partners with more than 100 high schools and 30 leading employers to offer professional skills training, paid internships, and college and career coaching to approximately 200 students across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. According to the organization’s 2024 Impact Report, alumni are nearly three times as likely to earn a bachelor’s degree, report a median income of $70,000, and 75% outearn at least one parent.
