Investment supports programming across multiple cities and advances Nashville expansion to prepare the workforce of the future

HOUSTON, TEXAS, APR. 9, 2026  — Genesys Works, a national nonprofit that creates pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities, announced today it has received a $200,000 grant from Bank of America. As part of the partnership, Genesys Works participants will benefit from Bank of America’s career training and financial education resources, including Better Money Habits and Tech Essentials.

Bank of America employees are mentoring students with career skills in Jacksonville, New York City, and Tulsa. The funding will also strengthen core program delivery across existing markets, including the Bay Area, Chicago, Houston, the Twin Cities, Washington, D.C., and support expansion into Nashville.

“Bank of America has been a valued partner in helping us prepare young people for the workforce,” said Byron V. Garrett, CEO of Genesys Works. “This investment allows us to deepen our impact across existing sites while expanding thoughtfully into Nashville. With entry-level roles becoming harder to access, our model ensures students gain meaningful, paid work experience before they graduate high school.”

Since its founding in 2002, Genesys Works has served more than 14,000 students through a model that combines technical and professional skills training, paid yearlong internships during students’ senior year of high school, and ongoing college and career support. 90% of alumni enroll in college, and 75% earn wages that exceed those of at least one parent.

“Cultivating the next generation of talent is essential to building strong, resilient local economies,” said Meghan Hughes, Head of Workforce Development at Bank of America. “Our partnership with Genesys Works is another demonstration of how we’re investing in pathways that empower young people to gain the skills, confidence, and paid experience needed to succeed in the workforce of the future while strengthening the communities we serve.”
