School partners are essential to the Genesys Works program, helping bridge the gap between students and their future careers. We work closely with schools throughout the year to support our interns holistically and ensure academic excellence. School partners are also instrumental in helping strengthen the pipeline and recruit new interns each year, helping us provide information, application completion, and interview preparation sessions over six months. Our dynamic partnership with counselors, educators, and administrators is integral to our mission to promote student success.

Harding High School, Highland Park Senior High School, and Humboldt High School in Saint Paul Public Schools have been school partners for 15 years. They were the first schools to embrace our vision when Genesys Works Twin Cities was founded in 2008. These three high schools, dubbed the “3 H’s” by our staff, hold a special place in our journey to transform career trajectories. Their early commitment paved the way for our expansion, and now, thanks to their trailblazing spirit, we have grown to partner with more than 60 high schools across the Twin Cities, positively impacting thousands of students along the way.

The partnership between the Saint Paul Public Schools and Genesys Works has strengthened and is mutually beneficial. Breanna Galuska, Partnership Specialist at SPPS, shares, “Through paid Genesys Works internships, students have the opportunity to connect what they are learning in the classroom in the morning to what they are doing in the workforce in the afternoon. The yearlong internships give students consistency and thorough, meaningful experiences that allow them to build a network, social capital, confidence, and competence in a field that may lead to a life-long career. Students work alongside real-life professionals, learn to be a part of a team, and seek other perspectives. Genesys Works provides opportunities for students to explore their interests and goals further, identified in their Personal Learning Plans, in a truly impactful and life-changing way.”

Kristine Somerville, a teacher at Highland Park, describes the transformation she sees in participants beyond their internships, “Genesys Works students stand out as very mature students. They are professional in every aspect of their lives: from school work to how they present themselves in the building. They are organized and reliable.”

Genesys Works Senior Director of High School Success Aaron Harper shares, “Our fifteen-year relationship with Saint Paul Public Schools has been essential to changing the economic trajectory for many young professionals and their families. Our partnership has impacted thousands of students by exposing them to career pathways in IT and technology, increasing accessibility to paid internships and experiential learning opportunities, and investing locally in young people through career readiness skills training and college and career coaching. I am excited to continue our partnership with SPPS and expand student internship offerings.”

The Genesys Works student-centered ecosystem is robust because of its partners, including Twin Cities high schools. Together, we are equipping students with skills and knowledge to thrive professionally. Since 2008, our network of school partners has grown significantly from three partners to over 60, highlighting our program’s increasing recognition and value. Thank you, Harding High School, Highland Park Senior High School, and Humboldt High School, for helping lay the foundation for our transformative journey. We are grateful for our strong relationship with Saint Paul Public Schools and all of our school partners who share an unwavering commitment to providing equitable opportunities to career success.
