Genesys Works Celebrates Young Professional Success and the Transformative Power of Career-Launching Opportunities on National Intern Day!

HOUSTON, TX (August 1, 2025) Genesys Works is a national workforce development program that connects high school students from underserved neighborhoods to paid internships. On this day (7/31/25), National Intern Day is celebrated through our signature event, Signing Day, where 125 students’ official internship commitments are shared and celebrated. In addition to the ceremony, professional headshots were taken, and custom ice cream bars were served.

“Every day, our interns show up with grit, heart, and a hunger to grow. On National Intern Day, I’m reminded that they’re not just preparing for the future, they’re shaping it. I’m endlessly proud of the brilliance they bring to Genesys Works Houston and the bold paths they’re paving.” Daphane Carter, Executive Director of Genesys Works.

Since 2002, Genesys Works has provided pathways to career success and economic mobility for thousands of high school students across the country. The national nonprofit was founded in Houston, Texas, by Rafa Alvarez. Genesys Works young professionals complete rigorous skills training in business technology, receive professional coaching and mentoring, and are placed in paid internships with top employers. Ninety-four percent of Genesys Works students are people of color, and 65% are first-generation college students.

To date, more than sixty Greater Houston corporations and institutions have partnered with Genesys Works to prepare the future workforce, expand the talent pool, and strengthen communities.  Nationally, 92% of students who complete Genesys Works out of the program earn a median income of $60,000 a year.
