Funding covers feasibility study in support of bringing Genesys Works’ proven program for college and career success to Oklahoma

Houston, TX – August 5, 2022 – Genesys Works has received a $100,000 planning grant from the George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF), which funds organizations and efforts related to direct service delivery to the greater Tulsa area and, occasionally elsewhere, in Oklahoma.

“Support like we have received from GKFF makes it possible for Genesys Works to expand to new cities by covering the cost of hiring local experts and connecting with community leaders in a coordinated way” said Jamie Grant, Chief Strategic Growth Officer of Genesys Works. “We are thrilled partner with the George Kaiser Family Foundation, which has been so innovative and forward-thinking in its approach to education and economic development in Tulsa.”

Genesys Works provides eight weeks of training in technical and professional skills for rising high school seniors, followed by a paid internship at major corporations such as Baker Hughes, Chevron, Accenture, and Target Corporation. Students also receive college and career coaching to prepare them for postsecondary success. 72 percent of Genesys Works participants are first-generation college students, and 91 percent are people of color.
