Every summer, a new group of young professionals begin their journey at Genesys Works Twin Cities with a shared goal: earning a corporate internship. While Summer Training prepares students with the technical and professional skills they’ll need to succeed, it also helps them build confidence, discover new passions, and connect with peers who share similar ambitions. For Hamsa, that growth starts with stepping outside of his comfort zone. “I’m excited to take more chances to learn more about myself,” he said.
Just a few weeks into the program, students were already noticing changes within themselves. “I want to have this opportunity to be confident because if I’m confident, maybe someone else can be confident too,” Veronica said.
For many, that confidence grows alongside a strong sense of community. “Coming to Summer Training, one thing we can all relate to is our love for business and technology,” Sebrina said. “It’s really nice to talk to people with the same interests as me.”
Beyond technical training, Summer Training gives students the opportunity to build lasting relationships with mentors and peers while exploring their future careers. “You don’t have to be good at tech to be at Genesys Works. You just have to be ready to learn,” Maryam said. “I think by the end of the summer, I will know what I want to do.”
Program Coordinator Joey Wegner has watched that transformation happen firsthand. “I’ve noticed when they are answering questions and doing assignments that they are thinking about things from multiple perspectives,” she said. “As instructors, it’s really fun to see that growth and have them start on those pathways on their own.”
As Summer Training enters its final weeks, these young professionals are building more than workplace skills. They are developing the confidence, connections, and mindset to thrive in their internships and beyond.
