Genesys Works Bay Area ended 2024 celebrating something truly special: 10 years of partnership between SFMTA and Genesys Works. Over the past decade, we’ve united with a shared goal—to open doors and expand career aspirations for Bay Area youth. And what a journey it has been.
Throughout this partnership, SFMTA has welcomed 117 Genesys Works interns. That’s 117 young lives transformed by opportunity—117 stories of ambition, growth, and potential. Each of these interns represents more than just an individual success; they signify a step toward lasting upward mobility for themselves, their families, and their communities.
In the internship year of 2023–2024, we reached a milestone, hosting 16 interns—the highest number yet. This specific year alone, SFMTA has invested an estimated $244,000 in Genesys Works interns, with a total investment reaching $1.4 million over the past decade. Currently, SFMTA is hosting 12 high school interns and 2 alumni interns, each forging their path toward a brighter future. These numbers represent more than financial commitments—they symbolize hope and a profound belief in the potential of youth.
