Comcast Awards Genesys Works $500,000 Grant to Enhance Student Tech Skills and Expand into New Markets

Funding will support curriculum enhancements and bring career-building opportunities to more high schools across the U.S. 

Houston, TX—November 25, 2024Genesys Works, a leading organization in creating career readiness opportunities for youth from underserved communities, announced today a $500,000 grant from Comcast. Since 2019, Comcast has invested more than $2 million to support Genesys Works across multiple locations, including Chicago, Houston, Minneapolis/St. Paul, the San Francisco Bay Area and the National Capital Region.  This investment also includes seed funding Genesys Works’ newest location in Jacksonville, Florida, scheduled to welcome its first cohort in 2025. This latest funding will enable Genesys Works to enhance its technical skills training to include AI and cybersecurity modules and expand into new markets, helping more young people access the resources they need for upward mobility and long-term economic success.

Genesys Works uses data-driven insights from student assessments and supervisor feedback to equip students with the most relevant skills to succeed in their internships, post-secondary endeavors, and careers in the long-term. The organization plans to expand to seven new high-growth regions in the next five years, bringing transformative opportunities to underserved communities and expanding the talent pool with a diverse and skilled workforce.

Upon completing the program, 92% of Genesys Works students enroll in college and are 2.5 times more likely than their peers to earn a bachelor’s degree within six years. Alumni earn a median income of $60,000/year and 68% outearn at more than one parent.
