What is Genesys Works Summer Training?

July 8, 2024

As the warmth ushers in the promise of summer, it also heralds the start of something truly transformative for many young individuals in the Twin Cities. Our eight-week Summer Training is a comprehensive, immersive experience designed to bridge the gap between high school education and professional success. Kicking off this year at Best Buy Headquarters in Richfield, in partnership with Geek Squad, our young professionals hit the ground running.

From the first day, students dive into a curriculum that covers a wide array of critical topics. Technical skills such as IT fundamentals, Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, and business communications form the backbone of their learning. But we go beyond the technical; our training also emphasizes professional skills like networking, resume building, and interview techniques. This holistic approach ensures that students are not just prepared for their roles but are also poised to excel in any professional environment.

Our students learn the important technical skills that help them instantly jump into the professional workforce as a trained, contributing member of the teams they join.

But they also learn the critical soft skills that make all the difference in creating successful, professional, interpersonal relationships.  Let’s take a look at just some of the skills our students learn over their eight weeks of Summer Training.

By the end of the eight weeks, that same student walks with a newfound sense of self-assurance and purpose. They have not only gained technical prowess but also the soft skills that are often the key differentiators in the workplace. They learn to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and tackle challenges with resilience. These are the moments that turn uncertainty into confidence and dreams into achievable goals.

For the companies that open their doors to our young professionals, the benefits are equally profound. Hiring a Genesys Works intern is not just an act of corporate social responsibility; it is an investment in the future workforce. The relationship is mutually beneficial: students gain invaluable work experience and companies gain enthusiastic, motivated interns who often bring innovative solutions to the table.

Each student who walks through our doors this summer is taking the first step towards a successful and fulfilling career. And that, truly, is the essence of what we do at Genesys Works.
