We Must Work Together to Create Equal Opportunity for All

April 14, 2021

Genesys Works Family,

Events continue to transpire across America that reflect its ongoing challenges, and failures, to achieve racial equity and social justice. From laws promoting voter suppression to violence against minority groups and overly aggressive and unevenly applied policing tactics, we continue to see stark reminders of America’s struggle to overcome systemic racial inequality.

Until we acknowledge, reconcile and address the biases that are so pervasive in this country and their impact on marginalized communities, we will continue to live in a state of crisis. Too many will continue to fear and distrust that the institutions meant to serve don’t include them. This feeling of disregard fuels a sense of frustration and hopelessness and creates a never-ending, self-perpetuating cycle that must end.

Many solutions are needed to break this cycle. We believe achieving sustainable economic equality for individuals, their families and communities is key among them. Our work centers on building meaningful connections between local businesses, school systems and youth from underserved communities. Working together, we are able to provide access to increased opportunities, foster new relationships and networks that lower barriers, dispel misperceptions and fuel increased knowledge and understanding for all parties. This supports our goal of achieving a more diverse, equitable and inclusive society.

The stark testimony at the Derek Chauvin trial, continued acts of violence against the AAPI community, aggressive police actions in Minnesota and Virginia, ongoing legislative activity in multiple states to restrict voting rights and numerous other events all serve to reemphasize the importance of our work.

It is not easy, but few things worthwhile ever are. I urge us all to recommit our energies to this effort and our goals. I look forward to partnering with you on this journey.

Onward,

Jeff Artis

President and CEO
