Genesys Works Announces New Board Members

HOUSTON, TX — Genesys Works (https://genesysworks.org/), a national social enterprise that provides pathways to career success for students in underserved communities, announced today that Nelly Akoth and Dharti Tripathi, have been elected to the Genesys Works National Board of Directors.

“I am pleased to welcome our newest members to our National Board of Directors,” said President and CEO David Williams. “They each have a unique background with diverse experiences that will be an asset to the Genesys Works Board of Directors and our organization as a whole.”

Nelly Akoth serves as the Vice President and Chief Credit Officer at IBM. She is an accomplished senior executive with more than 25 years of success, spanning the technology and finance sectors. Akoth has held key leadership positions with IBM in Kenya, Johannesburg, Singapore, and the United States.  

In her career, Akoth served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Africa region, where she oversaw IBM’s expansion into the world’s second-largest and second-most populous continent. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from St. Thomas University – Miami and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Howard University.

Dharti Tripathi serves as the Vice President and Chief Digital Operations Officer at GE Healthcare. In this position, she leads an operating team ensuring seamless execution for organizational transformation while driving efficiency, establishing digital operations strategy for growth and scale, and instituting metrics and processes to continue improvements in partnership with cross-functional teams.

In October 2016, Tripathi joined GE Digital part of the Renewable Energy business as the Chief Operating Officer and expanded her role within a year to lead strategy and growth, which included Go To Market channel, business development and marketing.  Prior to GE, she served as Global Head of Operations, Strategy, and Analytics at Groupon, where she led B2B and B2C operations, strategy and analytics. Tripathi holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management, a Master of Science in Computer Science from DePaul University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application from Xavier Institute of Computer Science and a Bachelor of Commerce in Advanced Accounting, Auditing and Advanced Statistics from Gujarat University.
